Remarks:
[1] The Bridging Semester is an enterprise organised at the International Faculty of Engineering of the Technical University of Lodz foreseen to help applicants from abroad who intend to enrol at IFE in the current academic year. Its aim is to level academic aptitude and knowledge of these candidates with average level of their Polish colleagues entering IFE.
The courses of the BS comprise the following subjects:Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English language, Polish Language (including elements of Polish history and culture, introduction to everyday life with useful practical phraseology and vocabulary)
All the science subjects (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry) will be taught in English.
The detailed information on the Bridging Semester will be available on the website soon.
[1a]Although the Bridging Semester is foreseen mainly for candidates of the second group (i.e. candidates who have some gaps in their academic curricula) it is advisable also for the first group, because of its complex program which includes elements of useful “reminder” of the logged material of the secondary education in candidate’s native country. In addition, it offers specially dedicated “Introduction to Polish Language” with adequately selected information enabling smooth adaptation to the Polish society.
[2] The Preparatory Coursesfor Polish-language university programs are foreseen mainly for candidates from abroad of an insufficient command of the English language, so they would be able to study successfully in Polish. Apart from intensive studies of the Polish language students also do other classes, relevant to their chosen field of academic interest. They are all put into different subject groups e.g. Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, IT, Economics, etc. Preparatory Courses often include special in-line classes (e.g. a class of Drawing, demanded for applicants for Architectural studies). Another purpose of the Preparatory Courses is to adapt students to the new social environment, the Polish culture, behaviours and habits.
[3] - These subjects are satisfactory for all courses taught in English (e.g. at IFE - TUL, CUT) and the Preparatory Courses (e.g. at ICE CUT).
However, candidates intending to study an Architecture and Town Planning or Industrial Design in Textile Engineering are obliged to pass successfully the practical exam in their artistic skills.
The list of the basic topics and the set of sample tests should be sent in advance to the candidates via the local recruiter. They are also available at the website.
